Badang,The Strong and MIghty

zoom a

A long, long time ago, there was a farmer named Badang.

Badang cut and cleared the jungle to turn it into paddy field.

During his free time, Badang would set traps in the river to catch fish. The fish would be roasted for food.

One evening, Badang went to the river to check on his trap. His trap had no fish instead for some fish bones. There were also fish bones on the river bank.

Badang was curious. Who could have eaten the fish in his trap? Badang wanted to know who had lifted his trap?

The following, Badang hid himself behind a tree. He wanted the fish thief.

Suddenly, there came a dark figure. Its hair and white beard was down to its breast.

Badang, braved himself. Badang caught hold of the figure. Badang wanted to kill the figure.

The figure asked for forgiveness. In return, it promised to give something to Badang.

Badang asked the figure to make him strong and mighty.

The figure told Badang to eat its vomit. Badang agreed. The figure quickly vomitted on a yam leaf.

Badang ate the vomit until it was finished. Later, Badang tried to push a tree which was near him. Effortlessly the big tree fell down.

Badang was very happy. Badang then freed the figure. The figure told him that it came to help Badang.

Badang became a strong and mighty man. Badang did not need an axe to cut down trees.

Since then, Badang became more hardworking and soon became a rich farmer.
